Welcoming a child into the family is an exciting time for many of us. But being pregnant and giving birth can be hectic especially during the holiday season and not to mention a global pandemic. For most people the transition into being parents is a time in which empathy, compassion, and a willingness to learn more about your own (and your partner’s) mental health becomes crucial.
We invite you to join us on this episode of Ninety-Nine Percent Effective when our hosts sit down with Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Laura Badecker, to discuss mental health before and after giving birth. Laura talks through identifying often unnoticed signs of postpartum and prenatal mood disorders in women, men, and couples, and then gives helpful insight on finding support and resources that are right for you. Above all, our hosts and Laura remind us that many of these feelings we experience during the prenatal and postpartum stages are normal. You are not alone, the support you need is out there, and our goal is to help you find it.
